A letter sent to Daniel Andrews from Victorian university heads has revealed Labor’s attempt to handpick people for leadership roles, without consent from universities.
Appointments to Victoria’s university councils were finalised with former Minister for Training and Skills Steve Herbert and scheduled to go to a Cabinet meeting this afternoon.
But Chancellors wrote to the Premier after these appointments were dumped and new names put forward – without consultation and with no input from the universities themselves to ensure selected individuals had the correct skill set for the job.
Quotes attributable to Member for Western Victoria Simon Ramsay:
Handpicking mates and supporters for leadership roles is nothing new for the Andrews Government.
To do so without consent from the universities is outrageous and yet another broken agreement, given the previous minister had already finalised agreements with university chancellors.
After just one month in the job, Skills and Training Minister Gayle Tierney has made sweeping changes and clearly shown her colours by backing John Agostinelli to La Trobe University’s council – a former Health Services Union auditor and current United Firefighters Union auditor.
She has now gone into hiding because Daniel Andrews’ bullying puppet strings are evidently behind this move.
It will be the staff and students who suffer from Daniel Andrews’ bold cronyism, as he continues to put political friends ahead of the people he is meant to serve.
