Liberal Member for Western Victoria, Simon Ramsay, will once again participate in the annual Cotton On Run Geelong fun run.
The fun run now in its eighth year has raised $5.4 million for kids’ health since 2009.
“I’m thrilled to be participating in my sixth Run Geelong,” said Mr Ramsay.
The Barwon Health foundation has worked in tandem with the Cotton On group for the past seven years, funding the $3.07 million redevelopment of the hospital with 100 percent of every Run Geelong registration fee going directly to the cause.
Since 2009, the partnership has seen the completion of the redevelopment of the Children’s Ward and a redevelopment of the Special Care Nursery and Maternity Day Assessment unit, helping to support the next generation of new mothers and their unborn babies.
This year the funds raised by Run Geelong will go directly to Barwon Health’s paediatric rehabilitation services.
“Run Geelong and fun runs like it are important events to engage communities in exercise and help raise money for healthcare services across Victoria.”
This year the run begins along the bayside before entering Geelong city centre and finishing at the Botanical Gardens. The Run Geelong event runs on Sunday, 19th November from 7:30 am comprising of a 1, 6, or 12- kilometre walk or run.
Run Geelong is a great way to get the community active and healthy with 13,000 participants last year.
“While I enjoy taking part in fun runs like Run Geelong to promote and support healthcare services, the important work is to help those who require a change of lifestyle for a longer and healthier life.” Mr Ramsay said.
