Liberal Member for Western Victoria Simon Ramsay applauded the Opposition Leader Matthew Guy’s announcement yesterday of a $24 million boost to security through CCTV cameras, lights and fences if elected in November.
Mr Ramsay now calls on the Borough of Queenscliffe, City of Greater Geelong, Surf Coast Shire and other local community groups to seize this opportunity if the Coalition are elected in November.
“We know there are businesses in Drysdale and on the Bellarine, as well as Geelong West and Lara that would benefit from these grants of up to $250,000, including a number of Neighbourhood Watch programs around Geelong”, Mr Ramsay said.
Matthew Guy said that passive security was needed to improve safety, deter break-ins and theft and that a Liberal National government would do all it can to provide a greater level of prevention and security for those shopping strips.
“It’s the biggest investment of its kind in Victoria’s history and goes a long way in helping councils and communities to keep their suburban and country shopping strips safer”, Mr Guy said.
Community safety and law and order are key issues for the Liberal National coalition ahead of November’s election.
A Liberal National government will keep all Victorian’s safe and secure.
